Privacy Policy
- Version
- 2026-04-01
- Effective
- April 1, 2026
This policy explains what TruckApply collects from drivers at truckapply.com, what we do with it, and how to make us stop. It also serves as our notice at collection under California law. We wrote it to be read, not to be survived.
1.The short version
Other things worth knowing up front:
- You never pay us anything, and we never ask for your Social Security number, your license number, or a bank account.
- We record our interview calls, but only after telling you and — in states that require it — asking you and waiting for your answer. You can say no.
- We do not run background checks, pull your MVR, or check the Clearinghouse. Everything a carrier sees came from you.
- You can ask us to delete everything and we will, except for the bare minimum needed to keep you off our call list forever.
2.Who this covers
This policy covers drivers and other visitors to truckapply.com. We operate only in the United States.
It does not cover what a carrier does with your information after we release it to them. Once a carrier has your name and number, they are handling it for their own purposes under their own privacy policy. We require them by contract to use it only to contact you about their own openings, not to resell it, and to honor an opt-out — but their policy, not ours, governs their conduct. Ask them for it.
Carrier account information is handled under the Carrier Service Agreement rather than this policy.
3.What we collect, why, and how long we keep it
Below is every category of information we collect, in the categories California law uses, along with what's actually in it, why we have it, who receives it, whether we're paid for it, and how long it lives.
Identifiers
Your name, cell phone number, email address if you give one, home ZIP code, and the IP address of the device you used.
- Where it comes from
- The form you fill out · Your web browser
- Why we have it
- Contact you about driving jobs
- Introduce you to a carrier that paid for the introduction
- Recognize repeat submissions and prevent fraud
- Keep you off our do-not-call list once you ask

- Sold for money
- Yes — only after a carrier pays
- Shared for advertising

- Make the form work and fix it when it breaks
- Measure which ads bring drivers who actually get hired
- Detect bots and fraudulent submissions
- Prove that a consent box was unchecked until you checked it
- Who receives it
- Our service providers (hosting, telephone, email, payments)
- Sold for money
- No
- Shared for advertising
- No
- How long we keep it
- Thirteen months, except for form interaction events tied to a consent record, which are kept five years as part of that proof.
Scores we calculate
A match score describing how closely your stated preferences line up with a carrier's stated hiring criteria, and an internal quality score.
- Where it comes from
- Calculated by us from the above
- Why we have it
- Decide which carriers to show your profile to
- Prioritize who we call back
- Who receives it
- Motor carriers we match you with see the match score for their own opening. They do not see our internal quality score.
- Sold for money
- No
- Shared for advertising
- No
- How long we keep it
- Recalculated continuously; deleted with the profile it belongs to.
We do not use your information to train machine-learning models that we sell or license to anyone else. We do not record calls, so there is no audio and no transcription service involved — our interviewer takes notes, writes them up, and a person reviews the result before any of it reaches a carrier.
We do not make decisions about you by purely automated means that produce legal effects. Our match score decides which carriers see your profile; it does not decide whether you get hired. Only carriers decide that.
4.What we deliberately don't collect
A shorter list is a safer list. We have designed the form so we never hold the following, and if anyone asks you for one of these in our name, it isn't us:
- Your Social Security number
- Your driver's license number or a photo of your CDL
- Your date of birth
- Bank account or payment card information
- Your Motor Vehicle Record, PSP report, or Clearinghouse record
- Drug or alcohol test results
- Biometric information of any kind. We do not record calls, so there is no voice to print.
- Precise device location
- Race, religion, national origin, sex, or any other protected characteristic
- Union membership
- Your credit history
On age: we need to know you're old enough to hold the job, not when you were born. So we ask you to confirm you're 18 or older rather than asking for your date of birth.
5.Your safety and medical answers
Four of our questions are treated differently from everything else: whether you're in a SAP program, your DOT medical card status, your accident count, and whether you have a DUI or major violation. Privacy laws in most states treat information about your health as sensitive, and a SAP program is a substance-abuse process — so those answers get separate handling.
- You give us separate permission for these. They are not covered by the general consent to share your profile.
- They travel to a carrier only if you said yes to that specifically, and only to carriers whose stated hiring policy actually considers them.
- In some states, the law prohibits selling this kind of information regardless of consent. In those states we don't share it, and nothing you or we check changes that.
- In Washington and Nevada, selling health information requires a separate written authorization from you that expires after a year. If we don't have a current one, we don't share it.
- You can withdraw permission for these while leaving the rest of your profile active.
We ask these questions for a reason that benefits you: sending a driver in a SAP program to a carrier that will never consider one wastes everyone's time, and having the facts up front means the carriers who do call you already know.
6.We are paid to share your information
Most privacy policies work hard to avoid this word. We'll use it. Under California law and the laws of a number of other states, disclosing personal information to a third party for money is a “sale,” and that is exactly what we do. Carriers pay us, per driver, for the introduction.
Specifically:
- We sell: identifiers (your name and phone number), professional and employment information, approximate location, the written transcript of your interview, and — with your separate permission and where the law allows — your safety and medical answers.
- We sell to: licensed motor carriers, and only those with an active USDOT number and operating authority that have signed our agreement.
- We do not sell to: data brokers, list vendors, marketing companies, lead aggregators, insurance companies, CDL schools, or anyone reselling your number. We don't share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- In the last 12 months we sold the categories listed above to motor carriers, and disclosed the categories listed in section 3 to our service providers. We did not sell the personal information of any consumer we knew to be under 16.
7.Who gets your information
Motor carriers. The point of the service. Described in section 6.
Service providers. Companies that run parts of our operation on our behalf — website hosting and databases, telephone service, email and text delivery, and payment processing for carrier invoices. They are contractually restricted to doing what we hired them for; they may not use your information for their own purposes and may not sell it. We keep a written record of which vendors have those terms in place, because a vendor without them isn't a service provider — sending data to them would be a sale, and we'd have to say so.
Legal and safety. We'll disclose information when the law requires it — a subpoena, a court order, a lawful request from a government authority — or when we reasonably believe it's necessary to investigate fraud, enforce our terms, or protect someone's safety. If we get a legal demand for your information and we're allowed to tell you, we will.
Business changes. If we're acquired, merge, or sell assets, your information may transfer as part of that. The buyer would be bound by this policy for information collected under it, and we'd tell you before anything material changed.
Nobody else. That's the whole list. We don't have advertising partners who receive your information, and we don't participate in data cooperatives.
8.Calls and texts
We dial by hand. We don't use auto-dialers or robocalls. The carriers we introduce you to are separate companies with their own systems, and some of them do use automated dialing — which is why the contact box mentions it.
When you check the contact box, you agree that we and carriers we match you with may call and text you about driving jobs at the number you gave us. Message and data rates may apply; frequency varies.
To stop: reply STOP to any text, tell us on the phone, or email contact@truckapply.com. Any reasonable way of telling us to stop works — you don't need particular words. We'll act on it as fast as we can and no later than 10 business days, and we keep you suppressed permanently.
What we don't ask about. Our interviewer works from a script and does not ask about your age, your family, your health or medical conditions, where you're from, your religion, arrests, or what you used to be paid. If someone calling in our name asks you any of that, tell us at contact@truckapply.com.
9.Where we operate
We advertise and match drivers in most US states, but not all of them, and the list changes as we expand or as a state's rules change. What decides which rules apply to you is where you live — not where your truck happens to be. That's why we ask for your home ZIP code rather than your current location: a Maryland driver hauling a load through Ohio is still a Maryland resident, and Maryland's rules still protect them.
If you live somewhere we don't currently serve, we'll tell you when you submit rather than leaving you waiting for a call. We still keep your information under this policy, you still have every right listed below, and you can still have it deleted. We'd rather know you're out there than turn you away silently — that's how we decide where to open next.
10.This is not a background check
Everything a carrier sees about you came from you. We don't investigate you, we don't pull records, and we don't verify or grade your answers.
What we provide is not a consumer report, and we are not a consumer reporting agency. Carriers agree in writing not to use it as a substitute for their own screening, and to run their own checks — with your written authorization — before making any hiring decision. If something we hold about you is wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
11.Your rights
Which rights you have depends on where you live. Rather than make you find your state in a table, we extend all of the following to every driver in the United States. It's simpler for us and better for you.
Know what we have
Ask for the categories of information we collected about you, where it came from, why we have it, who we disclosed it to, and the specific pieces themselves.
Get a copy
Ask us for a portable copy of the information you gave us.
Correct it
Tell us something is wrong and we'll fix it.
Delete it
Ask us to erase your information. We'll do it, with narrow exceptions we explain below — the main one being that we keep enough to never contact you again.
Stop the sale or sharing
Tell us to stop sharing your information with carriers for money. This is free, we won't ask you to make an account, and we won't treat you any differently.
Limit the sensitive stuff
Tell us to stop using or disclosing your SAP status, medical card status, accident count, or violation information.
Withdraw consent
Take back any consent you gave us, including consent to calls and texts.
Not be discriminated against
We will not deny you service, charge you anything, give you a worse experience, or drop you from matching because you exercised a right. There's nothing to charge you for in the first place.
Appeal
If we turn down your request, ask us to look again. We'll respond in writing, and if we still say no we'll tell you how to complain to your state Attorney General.
Two honest limits on deletion. First, when you ask us to delete your information, we add a permanent entry to our suppression list so you're never contacted again. Doing that requires keeping enough information to recognize your number — we keep a one-way scrambled version of it rather than the number itself. Second, we keep the record of what you consented to and when. That record is what lets us show a call we made was permitted at the time, and destroying it would leave us defenseless about a call we were entitled to make. Both of these are expressly allowed exceptions to the deletion right, and neither is used for marketing.
12.How to use those rights
Any of these work:
- Use the privacy request form — fastest, and it gets tracked on a clock.
- Email contact@truckapply.com.
- Call (708) 852-3088 and tell us. We'll log it.
- Reply STOP to a text, which we treat as a request to stop contacting you.
Timing. We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time we'll tell you why and take up to 45 more. Requests to stop selling your information, or to stop calling you, we act on right away — no later than 10 business days, and usually the same day.
Verification. For requests to see or delete your information, we need to be reasonably sure it's you, so we'll ask you to confirm details that match what we already have — usually the phone number you gave us, plus one or two answers from your form. We won't ask you for a government ID, and we won't make you create an account. For requests to stop selling your information, or to stop contacting you, we don't verify anything at all — we just do it. Making somebody prove who they are before honoring an opt-out defeats the point of the right.
Someone acting for you. You can use an authorized agent. We'll ask for written permission signed by you, and we may ask you to confirm directly — except for opt-out requests, where a signed permission from you is enough.
If we say no. We'll tell you why, in writing, and point to the specific reason. You can appeal by replying to our response or emailing contact@truckapply.com with “Appeal” in the subject line. We'll answer an appeal within 45 days, in writing, and if we still deny it we'll give you a way to contact your state Attorney General.
Fees. None. Ever. First request or fifteenth.
13.Browser opt-out signals
If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid request to stop selling and sharing your information, and we apply it to the browser you're using without asking you to do anything else or verify anything. Some states require this; we do it in all of them.
A browser signal can only reach the browser it came from — it doesn't know your phone number. So if you've already submitted the form and you want your saved profile taken off the market, send us an actual request through the privacy request form so we can connect it to your record.
We don't respond to older “Do Not Track” browser headers, because no common standard for them was ever settled. We do log when we see one.
14.State-specific notices
California. Section 3 is our notice at collection. We collect the categories listed there, including sensitive personal information, and we sell the categories marked as sold. You have the rights in section 10, including the right to limit our use and disclosure of sensitive personal information and the right to opt out of sale. We don't use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those a consumer would expect for providing this service. We honor Global Privacy Control. California's private right of action for consumers is limited to certain data breaches. If you're a California resident under 16, we won't sell your information at all.
Washington and Nevada. Some of what we collect is “consumer health data” under your state's law. See our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice, which your state requires us to publish separately. Selling that data requires a written authorization from you that we keep on file and that expires after a year.
Maryland. Maryland law prohibits selling sensitive data outright. We do not share your SAP status, medical card status, accident count, or violation information with any carrier, regardless of what you or we agree to. We also don't sell the information of anyone we know to be under 18.
Texas. We may sell sensitive personal data, as that term is defined by Texas law, but only where you have separately consented. We may not and do not sell biometric data, because we don't collect any.
Oregon and Rhode Island. If you ask, we'll tell you the specific third parties — by name — to which we disclosed your personal information, not just the categories.
Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with an appeal right. The appeal process in section 11 applies to you, and we'll tell you how to reach your Attorney General if we deny your appeal.
Nevada, separately. Nevada residents may submit a verified request that we not sell covered information. Email contact@truckapply.com with “Nevada Opt-Out” in the subject line, or use the request form.
Data broker registration. Several states require “data brokers” to register. Those laws apply to businesses that sell information about people they have no direct relationship with. You come to us and fill out our form, so we don't believe we fall in that category — but we review that conclusion annually, and we'd register if it changed.
16.How long we keep things
Section 3 gives the period for each category. The principles behind those numbers:
- Contact details go first, because they're the most sensitive thing we hold and the least useful once you've stopped looking. Two years after your last activity, they're erased.
- Call audio is kept a year, and the reviewed written transcript two, because the audio contains everything you happened to say and the transcript contains what the business actually needs.
- Records of what you consented to are kept the longest — at least five years past our last contact with you. That's not for marketing. It's because if a call we made is ever questioned, the proof that you permitted it has to still exist.
- Suppression entries are kept forever, in scrambled form. A do-not-call entry that expires is a phone call you didn't want.
- Invoices and payment records are kept seven years for tax and accounting.
We run a scheduled job that enforces these periods rather than relying on anyone to remember. The only thing that pauses it is a legal hold — an active dispute or a legal demand — because destroying records during a live dispute is a worse problem than keeping them.
17.How we protect it
Your name, phone number, and email are stored separately from your preferences, in a place that the carrier-facing side of the system has no access to at all. Reading them requires going through a single controlled path that checks authorization, checks that the invoice was actually paid, checks that you haven't opted out since, and writes a log entry — every time, including when it refuses.
Beyond that: encryption in transit and at rest, access limited to the people whose job needs it, separate permissions for viewing contact details versus everything else, a record of every change to a record, and a time limit on how long a carrier keeps access after buying a lead.
18.Children
This service is for adults looking for commercial driving work. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we don't sell the information of anyone we know to be under 18. If you believe a minor gave us information, email contact@truckapply.com and we'll delete it.
19.Outside the United States
We operate only in the United States, we don't market outside it, and we don't offer the service to people in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere abroad. Our systems are in the United States, so if you submit information from another country it will be processed here under United States law.
We aren't claiming that the GDPR applies to us — as far as we can tell, it doesn't, and overstating it would just create obligations out of thin air. But if you're outside the United States and you want to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email contact@truckapply.com and we'll handle it the same way we handle a request from a driver in Ohio. That's a commitment we're making here, not a legal conclusion about which law governs.
20.Changes to this policy
We'll update the version and effective date at the top when this changes. For a material change — a new category of information, a new kind of recipient, or a new purpose — we'll give at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect, by email or text if we can reach you, and we'll say plainly what changed.
We keep every prior version. If you want to see the exact policy that was in effect on the day you submitted your form, ask us and we'll send it to you.
